Vietjet recently received its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft under the airline’s US$32 billion order for 200 Boeing jets, marking a significant step in its market-based fleet standardisation strategy aimed at enhancing its operational efficiency and supporting its sustainable growth as an international aviation group.
The new aircraft arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport (Bangkok) and is the first in a batch of 50 Boeing jets scheduled for delivery to Vietjet Thailand from now until 2028. This addition strengthens the airline’s operational capacity, supporting growing travel demand and enabling further expansion across key destinations in the Asia–Pacific region.
Dedicated to Vietjet Thailand, the first 737-8 will enter service on the airline’s domestic Bangkok–Chiang Mai route, followed by its international Bangkok–Cam Ranh route in December 2025, before supporting further network expansion to Japan, South Korea, and China in early 2026. In Vietnam, Vietjet continues to operate its Airbus fleet. With extensive experience in next-generation aircraft operations and a strong global partner ecosystem, Vietjet is expanding its international network through major aviation hubs across Asia–Pacific, while steadily progressing toward future routes to Europe and the Americas.
The Boeing 737-8 incorporates advanced aerodynamics and new-generation LEAP-1B engines, offering full compatibility with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and achieving up to 15–20% reductions in carbon emissions and up to 50% lower noise levels in compliance with ICAO standards. With a maximum range of 6,570 kilometers, the aircraft provides extended flight capability and access to further destinations. Its Boeing Sky Interior features a brighter, quieter, and more spacious cabin, with larger overhead storage bins, ensuring passengers enjoy a comfortable and engaging journey.
Vietjet’s order for 200 Boeing aircraft is among the key agreements contributing to balanced Vietnam–U.S. trade. The modern fleet will continue to support Vietjet’s goals of driving aviation and economic growth in the region, creating long-term value for investors, and delivering safe, high-quality, and memorable journeys to millions of passengers worldwide.
