Lufthansa Systems announced it has created its newest subsidiary Lufthansa Systems India headquartered in Bengaluru. This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in the company’s global growth strategy and reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality IT services to more than 350 airline customers worldwide, including the Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa Systems India will be a key part of the Global Capability Center (GCC), developed by Lufthansa Systems in collaboration with the Indian IT company Infosys. The GCC will leverage state-of-the-art technologies, encompassing AI-driven innovations, to accelerate software and product development for both Lufthansa Group and its external airline customers.
“With Lufthansa Systems India, we are laying the groundwork for future-ready IT services that combine agility, innovation, and deep aviation expertise. Bengaluru’s dynamic tech ecosystem offers the ideal environment to grow our capabilities and attract top talent,” said Luigi Celmi, Managing Director of Lufthansa Systems India.
“The launch of Lufthansa Systems India is a key step in our global strategy to build a resilient and diversified delivery model. It reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation in aviation IT. We are excited to deepen our partnership with Infosys and expand our impact across the industry,” added Stefanie Neumann, CEO of Lufthansa Systems.
With the addition of Lufthansa Systems India, the company now operates in 19 locations with a global workforce of around 3,100 employees. Bengaluru joins the company’s strategic location portfolio alongside major hubs in Gdańsk and Budapest, further enhancing its international delivery capabilities.
Eurowings first to implement renewed pairing optimiser
Eurowings is the first airline to implement the newly released NetLine/Crew Pairing Application from Lufthansa Systems. As the launching customer, Eurowings is pioneering the deployment of a newly developed, optimiser-based solution for efficient and flexible crew planning. Already using the full NetLine and Lido product suites from Lufthansa Systems, the implementation of NetLine/Crew Pairing Application became a natural next step in Eurowings’ digital planning strategy.
With the integrated optimiser, Eurowings aims to improve crew rotation efficiency and reduce overall planning complexity — addressing one of the most cost-intensive areas in airline operations. The application enables a fast return on investment by combining advanced optimization technology with an intuitive interface. It allows crew planning teams to run multiple pairing evaluations in parallel, comparing results side by side to find the best solution. Comprehensive reporting features, including charts and KPIs, support data-driven decisions and improve transparency across planning teams.
“In an increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive airline industry, innovating and strengthening the planning process is not just a strategic choice — it’s a necessity for stronger operational management. We are proud to take this important step together with Eurowings. Their early involvement has been key to shaping this solution,” said Jan-Peter Gaense, Senior Vice President NetLine and SIRAX at Lufthansa Systems. “This launch also marks the beginning of a new generation of NetLine/Crew — smarter, more user-centric, and ready to meet the operational challenges of tomorrow.”

This is a smart move by Lufthansa Systems. Bengaluru has become such a strong tech hub, and partnering with Infosys for the GCC feels like the right step toward scaling aviation IT capabilities. Excited to see how their AI-driven solutions will impact airline operations in the years ahead.
