Hospitality company Delaware North has been awarded four sites at Perth Airport’s International Terminal (T1) to develop new food and beverage retail concepts. The announcement continues Delaware North’s growth story in the Australia New Zealand region and comes as Perth Airport prepares for expected growth in passengers and flights through its terminals. Three of the new sites are in the International Terminal’s landside departures precinct, with the fourth located in the International Terminal’s airside departures area.
The new outlets include:
- Gage Roads Sports Bar – T1 Landside: Delaware North has collaborated with Gage Roads Brew Co to develop the first Gage Roads Sports Bar. The venue will feature multiple digital screens, a pub-style menu, an Entertainment Arcade, and showcase WA produce and Gage Roads craft beers and ciders, creating a sports lover’s paradise with a family-friendly atmosphere.
- Hungry Jacks – T1 Landside: A reimagined Hungry Jacks store will include self-order kiosks and operate 24 hours a day. It will offer barista-made coffee, a devoted breakfast menu, and a family-friendly environment, providing passengers with a reliable and value-laden dining option.
- The Social – T1 Landside: This community-based café will partner with Little Owl Coffee Roasters to offer locally roasted coffee and live entertainment. The Social will focus on creating a vibrant atmosphere with a central bar featuring local beverages, celebrating the distinct attributes of West Coast hospitality.
- Matso’s Brewhouse – T1 Airside: Matso’s Brewhouse will be the first WA hospitality venue for Matso’s outside Broome. It will feature Matso’s Ginger and Mango Beer, WA produce, and a Pan Asian-influenced menu. The family-friendly restaurant and bar will also offer Matso’s-branded merchandise, providing a comfortable place for travellers.
Establishment of the new sites coincides with significant growth in passenger traffic over recent years at Perth Airport. In 2024, Perth Airport handled approximately 16.9 million passengers, representing a 12.38% increase compared to 2023. Monthly passenger traffic has also shown consistent growth, with February 2025 seeing a 2.23% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
Recent terminal upgrades and ongoing redevelopment projects are also expected to further boost passenger traffic at Perth Airport. The multi-billion-dollar redevelopment includes a new terminal at Airport Central, a new parallel runway, two multi-storey carparks, and an airport hotel. Over time, upgrades will enhance the airport’s capacity and efficiency, supporting the anticipated growth in both domestic and international air traffic.
The new Delaware North terminal facilities will cater to a diverse range of passengers, reinforcing Perth Airport as a world-class travel hub. The upgrades are expected to open millions of additional seats to and from Perth, positioning Western Australia as a major tourist destination and economic powerhouse.
Delaware North expansion at Perth Airport is a part of the company’s broader strategy to grow its operations in the Australian and New Zealand tourism and leisure markets. Delaware North operates in major airports across the globe, including locations in Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland, and Perth, and international hubs such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Orlando.
The first of the new builds is scheduled to commence in the coming months, with all four sites anticipated to be up and operating by the end of September this year.
Delaware North Australia New Zealand Managing Director Gary Brown said: “The awarding of these sites is a real testament to the highly productive relationship that has continued to grow and thrive between Perth Airport and Delaware North over the more than 30 years since we commenced operations at the airport. We are incredibly excited to bring these innovative food and beverage concepts to Perth Airport. This expansion reflects our commitment to enhancing the passenger experience with unique and high-quality offerings that celebrate the best of Perth and Western Australia.”
Perth Airport Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said: “It is fantastic to have our valued partner Delaware North be part of our significant refurbishment and refresh of the customer offering at T1 International. We’ve seen airlines show confidence in the Perth market by increasing and adding new international services which has led to a 23 per cent surge in international passengers in 2024 compared to 2023, hitting a record 4.8 million in the calendar year. As a growing airport we want to ensure we have a range of quality food and beverage options for our passengers. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the globally experienced team at Delaware North to deliver four new exciting outlets in Terminal 1 International which will enhance the customer experience at Perth Airport.
