Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) announced the signing of a significant extension to the existing Power-By-the-Hour (PBH) contract with Air China Cargo Co., Ltd. Air France Industries has been supporting in PBH the entire fleet of Air China Cargo GE90 since 2015. The amendment, securing the support for the new aircraft joining the Air China Cargo Fleet, will bring the decade-long partnership into a new horizon.
Building on this successful collaboration, the new amendment extends the scope of the existing agreement by incorporating additional Boeing 777F aircraft, each outfitted with GE90-110B engines to the contract. This expansion not only underscores the robustness of the initial partnership but also highlights the mutual trust and commitment between AFI KLM E&M and Air China Cargo.
“We are delighted to extend our PBH contract with Air China Cargo,” said Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President Air France-KLM Engineering & Maintenance. “This amendment not only highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding service but also exemplifies the strong and strategic partnership we have cultivated with Air China Cargo over the years. We are proud to support their fleet expansion and contribute to their operational success.”
“We have been very pleased with the high level of service and support provided by Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance over the years,” stated WU Lin, Vice President at Air China Cargo Co., Ltd. “This contract amendment is a natural progression of our partnership, reflecting our confidence in AFI KLM E&M’s capabilities and our mutual commitment to operational excellence. We look forward to continuing this successful collaboration and achieving new heights together.”
AFI KLM E&M buying up to 10 CFM LEAP engines
Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) and CFM International have signed an agreement to purchase up to 10 spare CFM International LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines. The engines will support AFI KLM E&M’s extensive portfolio of LEAP Premier MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) services for airline customers worldwide, to keep aircraft flying while AFI KLM E&M services operators’ primary engines.
“This agreement with CFM International is a significant step forward in our efforts to support our MRO customers with world-class services,” said Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance. “With this expanded engine supply, we can offer even more flexibility and reliability in meeting the needs of airlines operating CFM-powered aircraft around the world. Our customers can rely on us for the best in terms of both engine maintenance expertise and logistical support.”
This agreement underscores increasing demand for highly efficient and reliable engines like LEAP to maximise aircraft availability and utilisation. With delivery of the first spare engine in 2025, AFI KLM E&M will offer airlines an even more comprehensive suite of MRO services, adding enhanced engine availability to existing quick-turn, performance restoration, and on-wing support capabilities. For customers requiring rapid engine replacements, the spare engines will serve as a crucial reserve to minimize aircraft downtime.
