SES and Royal Brunei Airlines complete RB SkyConnect rollout on A320neo fleet

SES and Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) have completed the installation of the RB SkyConnect inflight Wi-Fi solution across the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet. RB SkyConnect is powered by SES’s advanced multi-orbit network, which seamlessly combines connectivity from both geostationary (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Enabled by SES’s electronically steered array (ESA) antenna technology, the system dynamically connects to the strongest available network, delivering stable, uninterrupted connectivity across RB’s route network and served territories, including China and India. With the completion of installations across the entire A320 fleet, the service is now available on all A320 aircraft in operation across the Asia-Pacific region. Colonel Norsuriati binti Haji Sharbini, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines, said: “The successful completion of the RB SkyConnect installation across our Airbus A320neo fleet marks an important milestone in our efforts to enhance the guest experience through innovation and technology. Connectivity has become an essential part of modern travel, and we are pleased to offer our guests seamless access to reliable inflight Wi-Fi across our entire A320neo fleet. This investment reflects our commitment to delivering a more connected, customer-focused travel experience while supporting Brunei Darussalam’s digital transformation ambitions under Wawasan Brunei 2035 vision.” Blane Boynton, Senior Vice President Aviation at SES, said: “Successfully completing this deployment demonstrates the speed and scalability of SES’s next-generation inflight connectivity solutions. Royal Brunei is our first APAC airline to install our latest multi-orbit ESA product, with five additional APAC airlines installing our system by the end of 2027. We are proud to support Royal Brunei Airlines as they bring high-quality connectivity to passengers across their regional network.” Air India launches integrated online duty-free platform Air India and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), the country’s largest private airport operator, today announced the launch of an integrated online duty-free shopping platform for international travellers. Integrated into Air India’s official website and mobile application, the new digital storefront lets passengers departing from or arriving at select Indian airports browse, pre-order, and securely pay for duty-free items before their journey. Customers can collect their packaged purchases at designated airport duty-free counters. For passengers, the new platform offers instant savings and convenience with introductory discounts of up to 25% on standard retail shelf prices, with the added advantage of stacking bank offers and seasonal privileges. Travellers can choose from a wide digital catalogue covering premium cosmetics and fragrances, luxury chocolates and confectionery, consumer electronics, and world-class spirits — ensuring they secure the best deals before even stepping into the airport. In addition to introductory discounts of up to 25%, the partnership embeds loyalty rewards into the retail flow: members of Air India’s Maharaja Club loyalty program will automatically earn three Maharaja Points for every INR 100 spent on eligible duty-free transactions. The digital service is available for passengers travelling to and from major airports with duty-free hubs at Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram. Eligibility extends to customers on codeshare itineraries, including flights operated by Air India Express, with planned rollouts across additional domestic and international gateways in subsequent phases.
