RTX to invest US$139 million in Singapore

RTX has signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) at the Singapore Airshow 2026, committing more than US$139 million to expand advanced aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and high-value engineering capabilities in the country. The agreements build on an initial MOU signed in July 2025 and underscore RTX’s long-term confidence in Singapore as a strategic hub for next-generation aerospace technologies. Under the latest MOUs, RTX businesses Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney will expand and introduce new capabilities to support next-generation commercial aircraft platforms and growing regional demand. “With more than 4,300 employees across 12 facilities, RTX is Singapore’s largest foreign aerospace and defence employer,” said Chris Haave, Vice President, International Operations, Global Government Relations at RTX. “These new MOUs build on our 50-year presence in the country and reflect our continued commitment to Singapore as a strategic hub for developing next-generation aerospace technologies. Together with EDB’s strong support, we are investing in capabilities that will support our customers in the region, create high-value jobs and align with Singapore’s ambition to remain a global leader in aerospace.” Cindy Koh, Executive Vice President, Singapore Economic Development Board, said the agreements further deepen the longstanding partnership between RTX and Singapore. “These investments bear testament to RTX’s strong confidence and commitment in Singapore’s stable, trusted and comprehensive aerospace ecosystem,” she said. “The expansion of new capabilities for next-generation commercial aircraft platforms will strengthen Singapore’s leadership as a global aerospace hub and create exciting opportunities for locals in advanced manufacturing technologies.” Collins Aerospace: Expanding MRO Capabilities for Asia-Pacific Customers To address rising MRO demand across the Asia-Pacific region, Collins Aerospace will introduce new in-region MRO capabilities aimed at reducing turnaround times for airline customers. Planned expansions include support for: Electrical power systems Environmental and airframe control systems Boeing 777X Integrated Drive Generators, supporting the aircraft’s entry into service Flight-critical systems for the Boeing 787 fleet, including: Engine starter controllers Cabin air compressors Auxiliary power units Advanced cooling systems, covering pumps and controller systems The new Collins Aerospace capabilities are expected to be fully operational by 2030. Pratt & Whitney: Enhancing GTF Engine MRO and Manufacturing Capability As part of its global ramp-up of GTF™ engine MRO, Pratt & Whitney will introduce new maintenance capabilities for the Fan Drive Gear System (FDGS) at its Seletar facility in Singapore. The new FDGS maintenance line will leverage advanced automation and artificial intelligence to further reduce engine turnaround times. In parallel, Pratt & Whitney will expand its coating capabilities at its Tuas operations to support increasing global production demand. The advanced coatings enhance the durability of GTF hot-section components.
