Aboitiz InfraCapital has begun Initial reconfiguration activities at Bohol-Panglao International Airport in the Philippines, marking the start of a series of phased enhancements aimed at improving passenger comfort, accessibility, and operational efficiency. The preparatory works signal the beginning of AIC Airports’ planned improvements across key passenger areas at BPIA (the country’s 10th-busiest gateway) that support both current travel demand and future growth, while maintaining a seamless experience for passengers. “This reconfiguration marks an important step in our continuing efforts to enhance the passenger journey at Bohol-Panglao International Airport. We are grateful for the strong collaboration with our partners in the Bohol Provincial Government, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), whose tremendous support enables us to pursue improvements that benefit travelers and the wider community,” said AIC Vice President and Head of Airports Rafael M. Aboitiz. “Enhancing Bohol-Panglao International Airport is part of a coordinated effort to strengthen the country’s aviation gateways. Through close collaboration with airport operators, these improvements in efficiency and facility design help ensure safer, smoother, and more responsive operations for passengers,” said CAAP Director-General Ret. Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario. In a letter issued to AIC in March 2026, the DOTr and CAAP–the latter of which successfully marked its 18th anniversary last month— approved BPIA’s reconfiguration work plans, paving the way for efforts to refine airport services and ensure facilities keep pace with evolving passenger needs, as the first anniversary of AIC’s takeover of BPIA’s operations and maintenance in June 2026 approaches. Included in the approval were BPIA’s reconfiguration layout (including minor CAAP comments), security plan, and additional equipment approved by the Office of Transportation Security. This approval was then followed by a timely meeting between Bohol Governor Enrico Aristotle “Aris” C. Aumentado and new BPIA General Manager Aldwin C. Uy. Governor Aumentado and Uy discussed concessionaire feedback, potential opportunities and improvements within the terminal, as well as the possible allocation of greater space for Boholano goods and delicacies, in support of the Bohol Provincial Government’s Strategic Governance Roadmap. “The Bohol-Panglao International Airport is the gateway to our province, so together with the Aboitiz Group, which is the current operator of the airport, we will work together to develop and make it even more beautiful.),” said Aumentado. Brisbane Airport’s dining revamp revealed Travellers are getting their first look at a major refresh inside Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal, as the rollout of 13 new and upgraded food and beverage outlets takes shape. Four more food outlets are set to open mid-year, including crowd-favourite KFC, Mediterranean-inspired lobby bar concept Manna and healthy grab-and-go options from Liv Eat and Sushi Jiro kiosks. McDonalds opened in December last year and continues to trade as one of their busiest locations in Queensland. Still to come, brand new hub The Dining Precinct will bring together sweet treats from Gelatissimo and local bakery Jocelyn’s Provisions, gourmet sandwiches from Brisbane-born Joe’s Deli, the Deck Bar & Eatery, Coffee Trader as well as international flavours like Souva Greek Eats, Asian Street Kitchen and Sol Mexican Eats. Brisbane coffee favourites Bellissimo, Merlo Cafe and Kuhl-Cher Cafe will also have outlets across the departures and arrivals levels. All 13 outlets will be fully open by the end of 2027. New retail coming to International Terminal will include travel essentials from Relay, Prosegur Change Currency Exchange and the footprint of the existing Lotte Duty Free store will almost double as part of the transformation in coming years. Scott Norris, Executive General Manager Commercial at Brisbane Airport said the transformation marked one of the biggest overhauls of the terminal’s dining experience to date. “This food and retail upgrade will create a terminal that feel unmistakenly like Brisbane; relaxed, welcoming and full of great food. We know travellers want to enjoy local flavours. The upgraded terminal will feature a mix of Brisbane bites and international favourites designed to make the pre-flight experience feel a little more like the holiday itself. We want to thank passengers for their continued patience as we work to transform the International Terminal. There’s already a buzz with these new food and drink outlets, and even more exciting options are just around the corner,” he said. A section of the Village Green, located in the centre of Level 3 Departures Hall of the International Terminal, will be closed for staged ceiling replacement works until approximately mid-June. Passenger access to food outlets, charging stations, currency exchange and other facilities is still available, however there will be reduced waiting and seating room in this central area of the terminal. Construction now underway on A$12 million expansion of Launceston Airport Departing travellers at Launceston Airport will soon have more space and more gates, with construction underway on the next phase of the biggest terminal transformation in the airport’s history. The A$12 million project, funded by the airport, airlines and Tasmanian Government, will deliver a new boarding gate, a 600 square metre expansion of the gate area and a complete renovation and modernisation of Gates 3 and 4. The expansion is designed to provide passengers with more room, improved seating, better wayfinding and a significantly enhanced experience. Launceston Airport CEO Katie Cooper said the works aligned with a long-term vision to become Australia’s favourite regional airport. “This is a significant step in a truly transformative journey for Launceston Airport, that has completely reimagined the way passengers experience our terminal,” she said. “We’ve created a bespoke airport experience here at Launceston that reflects the character, beauty and identity of Tasmania, and gives travellers a genuine sense of place from the moment they arrive. From check-in through to boarding, passengers will now have a seamless, uniquely Tasmanian experience at Launceston Airport with local architecture, businesses and amazing airport views all showcased. By increasing capacity and improving the functionality of our departure gates, we’re creating the infrastructure needed to support more services and passengers which sets us and our region up for long term growth. We’re grateful to the Tasmanian Government and our airline partners for their ongoing collaboration and investment in Launceston Airport which enables us to not only meet today’s needs but unlock the next phase of growth for Launceston and Tasmania.
