Vietjet has been named Asia Low Cost/Hybrid Airline of the Year by CAPA – Centre for Aviation, recognising the airline’s strategic development and continued evolution of its business model. The award was presented at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Asia 2026. After 15 years of operations, Vietjet is advancing its Hybrid airline model, which the airline says is “built on operational efficiency and cost discipline. The model offers passengers greater choice in fares, amenities, and services, while enabling the airline to expand its international network and enhance the overall passenger experience.combining the cost efficiency of a low-cost carrier with a wider range of fares, services, and passenger experiences. For travellers, this means greater flexibility to choose the fare, amenities, and services that best suit their needs, whether travelling for leisure, visiting friends and family, or for business”. Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of Vietjet’s Board of Directors, Vice President and Group CFO, said: “For Vietjet, Hybrid means offering passengers more choices and better experiences on a foundation of competitive fares, operational efficiency, and safety. We are investing in our fleet, technology, and service capabilities so that every step of our growth creates long-term value for our customers, shareholders, and the markets Vietjet connects.” Vietjet’s Hybrid strategy includes the development of its wide-body Airbus A330 fleet and a broader range of fares and services catering to different travel needs. Passengers can also choose from a variety of onboard products and services, including the finest flavors of Vietnamese and international cuisine, and experience professional and attentive service from Vietjet’s cabin crew. The CAPA recognition adds to Vietjet’s international accolades as the airline continues to expand connectivity between Vietnam and markets across the region and beyond. The CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence recognise aviation companies and leaders for achievements in strategy, innovation, and contributions to the development of the aviation industry. Vietjet has also announced plans to deploy Starlink satellite Internet across its fleet, which is expected to give passengers greater connectivity for work, communication, and entertainment while flying. Beyond the passenger experience, Vietjet is investing in an aircraft maintenance facility in Long Thanh and exploring opportunities to develop aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Vietnam. The airline is also expanding its capabilities in technology, artificial intelligence, data, and cybersecurity as part of its broader aviation ecosystem. International expansion remains a key pillar of Vietjet’s growth strategy. In Singapore, the airline currently operates direct services to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, with a new direct route to Nha Trang set to commence on 11 December 2026. Alongside the expansion of its international network, the airline is also investing in next-generation aircraft and developing capabilities across aviation training, maintenance, ground services, and technology to support its longer-term growth.
