Noida Int’l, Akasa look to develop MRO facility

Noida International Airport (NIA) and Akasa Air have announced a partnership to establish Akasa Air’s first maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the upcoming Noida International Airport. Under the agreement, Akasa Air will operate an MRO facility within the airport premises, offering advanced MRO services at Noida International Airport, supporting a broad spectrum of aircraft maintenance activities and ensuring high standards of operational efficiency and safety. “Akasa Air’s decision to establish its first MRO facility in India at Noida International Airport is a strong endorsement of our vision to build a world-class aviation hub for India,” said Christoph Schnellmann, Chief Executive Officer, Noida International Airport. “This partnership will not only enhance India’s MRO capabilities but also create opportunities for skill development and employment in the region.” Vinay Dube, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air, said, “Our partnership with Noida International Airport reflects how we think about building Akasa for the long term. For Akasa, investing early in this capability is part of a disciplined approach to growth, strengthening our operational backbone while contributing to the development of a more self-reliant aviation ecosystem in India.” Airhub Aviation signs deal with AerCap for base maintenance Airhub Aviation has signed a strategic maintenance agreement with AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft lessor, to provide base maintenance and aircraft redelivery services at its Siauliai International Airport (SQQ) facility in Lithuania. Under the agreement, Airhub Aviation will provide a range of base maintenance, EASA modifications implementation, including avionic modifications, cabin reconfigurations (LOPA mods), engine swaps, landing gear replacements, and implementation of required maintenance for AerCap customers. A dedicated ad-hoc bay will facilitate rapid aircraft inductions, ensuring minimal downtime for lessors and operators. “This partnership cements our position as a key player in aircraft transitions and maintenance” said Oleg Novak, Managing Director of Airhub Aviation. “Our Siauliai facility is purpose-built for fast-turnaround base maintenance, aircraft modifications, engine swaps, as well as long-term storage – critical services for lessors managing fleet transitions. The company’s asset management division provides mid-life aircraft support, including parts harvesting, component repair management, and optimised inventory solutions for operators and leasing houses. The Siauliai facility offers extensive long-term parking capacity, accommodating up to 25 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously – one of the largest capacities in the region. The site provides cost-effective storage and transition solutions, complemented by Siauliai International Airport’s proximity to key European markets. As a NATO base airport, SQQ also offers high-security infrastructure and round-the-clock operational flexibility.
