Malaysia Airlines, Firefly partner with ASEAN travel groups to boost Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has strengthened its strategic alliances with leading travel industry associations in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. The partnerships will expand MAG’s reach across key markets through joint marketing, trade engagement and consumer initiatives, supporting incremental revenue, new travel opportunities and enhance Kuala Lumpur’s position as the gateway to Asia and beyond. While expanding its footprint across ASEAN remains a key priority, MAG’s regional success is deeply rooted in its strong domestic ecosystem and longstanding relationships with travel trade partners.  By reinforcing these collaborations, MAG continues to build a stronger, more integrated tourism and aviation network that delivers mutual value for Malaysia and its partners. Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “At MAG, we believe the future of travel is shaped by strong partnerships and a shared regional vision. Bringing together leading travel associations from across ASEAN in this first-of-its-kind collaboration is a powerful demonstration of what we can achieve when the region comes together. We are building stronger connectivity, driving demand and opening new opportunities, with Kuala Lumpur firmly positioned as the gateway to Asia and beyond.” Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) – Malaysia: Solidifying its brand prominence on home soil, MAG has successfully renewed its Partnership Agreement with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) for a further three-year term. MAG will continue its role as the Official Airline Partner and Premier Sponsor of MATTA Fair events in Kuala Lumpur and all state editions nationwide. This enduring alliance elevates the fair’s international visibility whilst showcasing MAG’s unwavering support for Malaysia’s travel and tour agencies. National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) – Singapore: MAG has been established as the Preferred Airline Partner of the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), strengthening its collaboration with one of Singapore’s leading travel trade associations. This collaboration aims to drive sales growth through NATAS member agencies, promote special offersvia the NATAS Travel Fair, and deliver greater value to travellers connecting from Singapore. ASTINDO – Indonesia: Strengthening its presence in Indonesia, MAG has secured its status as a Preferred Airline Partner with ASTINDO, one of the country’s leading travel industry associations, for a one-year term (September 2026 – August 2027). The partnership will boost customer engagement through the ASTINDO Travel Fair, with Firefly also included to promote its regional products and destinations in selected Indonesian cities. Thai International Travel Fair (TTAA) – Thailand: Through a one-year partnership, MAG will leverage the Thai International Travel Fair (TITF) as a key consumer engagement platform. Organised by the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA), this alliance aims to stimulate travel demand, strengthen trade partnerships and highlight seamless connections to Malaysia and beyond through Kuala Lumpur. Travel Innovators – The Philippines: By leveraging the Travel Madness Expo (TME), this partnership serves as a strategic platform to support agent engagement, drive destination marketing, and generate new leads for MICE, corporate opportunities, and passenger growth in both markets. These partnerships extend MAG’s reach beyond its own channels, bringing the Group closer to the travel agents, industry partners and consumers who shape demand across the region.
