Korean Air to roll out Starlink Wi-Fi

Korean Air will begin offering complimentary high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi powered by Starlink on September 15. Passengers on select flights will experience reliable broadband connectivity – so they can stream, work, and stay online in the cabin the same way they would at home. (IMAGE: Korean Air) The service will debut on four newly retrofitted widebody aircraft: three Airbus A350-900s and one Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft will be deployed on medium-and long-haul routes across the Americas, Europe, and Southeast Asia, as well as on key short-haul flights. The airline plans to progressively expand Starlink connectivity across its in-service fleet by the end of 2027. Starlink is the world’s most advanced satellite constellation using a low-Earth orbit to deliver fast, reliable internet that enables passengers to stream high-definition video and music, play online games, browse the web, and access cloud-based applications. While the network supports these high-bandwidth activities, voice and video calls remain restricted to maintain cabin comfort. Aircraft awaiting retrofit will continue offering the airline’s existing paid Wi-Fi service during the fleet transition. The launch establishes Korean Air as the first full service carrier in East Asia to introduce Starlink connectivity, marking an initial milestone in its broader fleet modernization roadmap ahead of the airline’s merger. Korean Air to resume Oita service for winter 2026 Korean Air will resume service to Oita, Japan for the upcoming winter season from October 25, 2026, to March 26, 2027. The Seoul Incheon – Oita service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights depart Seoul Incheon at 9:15 AM and arrive in Oita at 10:50 AM. Return flights depart Oita at 12:00 PM, arriving at Seoul Incheon at 1:45 PM. The route will be serviced by the airline’s Airbus A321neo fleet, configured with 182 seats including 8 in Prestige Class and 174 in Economy Class. Located in northeastern Kyushu, Oita Prefecture is renowned as Japan’s premier hot spring destination. Famous hot spring towns such as Beppu and Yufuin attract visitors seeking winter relaxation, alongside scenic natural landscapes and regional culinary experiences. The resumption of the Oita service completes Korean Air’s five-destination network across Kyushu, complementing Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, and Kagoshima.
