Jet2 confirms LEAP engine for Airbus A321neo fleet

UK leisure travel group Jet2 has selected the CFM LEAP-1A engine to power 54 Airbus A321neo aircraft. With this announcement, Jet2’s LEAP-1A-powered A321neo fleet will now span 146 aircraft, alongside nine leased aircraft. The agreement, which also includes a long-term maintenance service, supports Jet2’s growth strategy. “We are pleased to strengthen our long-standing relationship with CFM, which has been a key partner in our ongoing growth,” said Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer of Jet2. “With all our new aircraft now confirmed with LEAP engines, we are fully committed to CFM to provide the best customer experience.” Jet2 has been a CFM customer for more than 20 years. In March 2022, the airline placed an order for LEAP-1A engines to power up to 75 Airbus A321neo aircraft. This was followed in March 2023 by a selection of LEAP-1A engines for up to 71 additional Airbus A321neo family aircraft. CFM continues to upgrade the LEAP fleet with a high-pressure turbine (HPT) durability kit to extend time on wing and a reverse bleed system (RBS) to lower airline maintenance burden.
