Japan Airlines revealed at an event held in Tokyo the RECARO economy class seat R2 as part of its new B737 MAX 8 fleet. The new Japan Airlines Boeing 737 MAX-8 fleet will be equipped with R2 seats in economy class. Each seat features well-positioned USB Type A & C ports, enabling every passenger to stay connected and conveniently charge their personal devices throughout the flight. The thoughtfully designed “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) holder ensure optimal placement for passengers to utilise their own devices, enhancing their onboard experience. The R2 also features ergonomically designed cushions and cutomised dress covers tailored specifically in the Japan Airlines design, elevating comfort and aesthetics. The integrated headrest offers ergonomic support while the seat’s robust and lightweight design maximizes passenger comfort. Each seat is equipped with a generously sized table, offering ample space for dining, work, or entertainment. For storage, the R2 is equipped with two literature pockets, including a lower pocket with expanded netting and a upper literature pocket, both designed to provide sufficient storage while preserving generous living space. “It is an honour for us to have been selected by Japan Airlines for its new Boeing 737 MAX-8 fleet. We share the same values regarding passenger travel experience and passenger comfort. This is a testament to our long-standing partnership of more than 15 years. We look forward to achieving the next milestones together,” said Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and CEO of RECARO Holding. RECARO, Air India launch retrofit for 787s (IMAGE: RECARO) RECARO Aircraft Seating and Air India have launched a retrofit program for the airline’s Boeing 787-8 fleet. As part of the program, RECARO is equipping Air India’s B787-8 aircraft with its PL3530 seats in Premium Economy Class and CL3710 seats in Economy Class. Both seat models are customised to Air India’s requirements and offer enhanced comfort, refined ergonomics, improved recline, adjustable headrests, and integrated personal electronic device charging options. The retrofit program covers a total of 26 aircraft. In total, nearly 6,000 RECARO seats will be installed across Air India’s B787-8 fleet. The first aircraft has already been completed as part of the B787 retrofit program. This retrofit aligns with the same RECARO seat models that are already flying on Air India’s recently delivered B787-9 aircraft. “Lightweight design, comfort, and ergonomics form the ‘magic triangle’ that defines every product RECARO develops and delivers. We are proud to collaborate with Air India on both premium and economy cabins. The PL3530 embodies premium comfort, while the CL3710 is all about creating a truly comfortable living space for passengers. I very much look forward to continuing our excellent partnership,” said Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and CEO of RECARO Holding.
