Boeing Composites Malaysia expands manufacturing capacity

Boeing announced the expansion of Boeing Composites Malaysia (BCM) to strengthen production capabilities and create opportunities for its all-Malaysian team of approximately 1,150 employees. The expansion was commemorated by BCM’s employees, government representatives and industry partners who gathered to celebrate the site’s 25 years of operations. “Boeing’s continued investment in Kedah reflects the strength of Malaysia’s industrial base and the exceptional all-Malaysian talent on our team,” said Faisal Sraieldin, managing director, Boeing Composites Malaysia. “Our advanced facility and highly skilled team play a vital role in Malaysia’s growing aerospace industry. With this expansion, we are reinforcing our commitment to developing high-tech talent and deepening our long-term partnership with Malaysia, while strengthening the country’s position as an aerospace manufacturing hub.” BCM added 100,000 square feet of warehouse space for finished components and integrated logistics. The expansion supports Boeing’s increase in commercial airplane production to meet growing global demand and customer commitments. A key part of Boeing’s strategy in Malaysia is working with local technical institutions, including the Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) and the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC). These partnerships help develop a pipeline of high-precision skills to support advanced aerospace manufacturing and workforce readiness in Kedah. BCM provides composite products and subassemblies for all Boeing commercial airplane models and is Boeing’s first wholly owned manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia. EirTrade Aviation Maintenance adds three global authorisations EirTrade Aviation’s expanding facility in Knock, Ireland West Airport has been authorised by the Bailiwick of Guernsey (2-REG), Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands CAACI (VP-C) and Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority BCAA (VP-B) for operations, transitions, parking and storage. These authorities provide oversight of aircraft on their registers for compliance with the Overseas Territories Aviation Regulations and in addition, each have their own specific requirements. Jim Maguinness, Quality Manager – EirTrade Aviation, explains the Company’s strategy. “Having added A320 NEO (PW1100) and A330 aircraft to our EASA Part-145 capabilities in 2025, we were looking to see how we could further extend and improve the line maintenance services we offer to airline and aircraft lessor customers. We observed that some leasing companies and operators were using Bailiwick of Guernsey (2-REG), Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands CAACI (VP-C) and Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority BCAA (VP-B) for operations, transitions, parking and storage – this presented an excellent opportunity for us to expand our capabilities to further support their requirements.” The Compliance Monitoring & Safety Management Team evaluated the work required. It was necessary to prepare MOE supplements, associated documents and forms, provide training for staff and authorisations for the Certifying Staff. Once complete, the applications were prepared and submitted, and after desktop and on-site audits, EirTrade Aviation Maintenance was successful in gaining all three new authorisations. “The potential opportunities were realised immediately,” says Maguinness. “We welcomed two aircraft into parking and storage programmes – one is 2-REG and the second is Cayman Reg. Both are new customers for EirTrade Aviation Maintenance Limited.” EASA IE.145.092, 2-REG.145.587, CAY-AMO-061347 and BDA/AMO/913 approvals cover line maintenance, parking, storage and return-to-service at EirTrade’s Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC) facility for the following aircraft types: A320 (CFM56), A320 (IAE V2500), A320 NEO (IAE PW1100), A320 NEO (CFM LEAP-1A); A330 Series; B737-600/700/800/900 NG (CFM56), B737-8/9/8200 MAX (CFM LEAP-1B).
