AATC expands capabilities for Singapore Flying College with ALSIM simulator

Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), a joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, has announced the acquisition of an advanced ALSIM Airliner simulator. The new flight training device will directly support ab initio pilot training courses for the Singapore Flying College (SFC). Under the newly established training services agreement, SFC will utilise the simulator for its Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) cadet training programme. The ALSIM Airliner simulator was specifically selected for its hybrid capability, which allows it to seamlessly switch between fly-by-wire and conventional flight control systems. This versatility is crucial for preparing future airline pilots, providing them with representative, hands-on experience in the industry’s two dominant flight control philosophies early in their foundational training. Scheduled to be fully operational by early 2027, the simulator will be compliant with ICAO 9625 Type IV standards and will hold all necessary regulatory approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). The announcement was made jointly at the Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit (APATS) 2026 in Bangkok by Silvia Meloni, General Manager of Airbus Asia Training Centre, and Captain Lorimer Yong, General Manager of Singapore Flying College. “The acquisition of the ALSIM Airliner is a testament to AATC’s commitment to providing world-class training that anticipates the needs of the aviation industry,” said Silvia Meloni, General Manager of Airbus Asia Training Centre. “Its hybrid technology is a game-changer, allowing trainees to develop critical skills in a versatile and realistic environment, while reinforcing our core commitment to safety and excellence.” Captain Lorimer Yong, General Manager of Singapore Flying College, added: “Our collaboration with Airbus Asia Training Centre allows SFC to access a modern and versatile training device to further enhance our MPL training. Through this training services arrangement, our cadets will benefit from early exposure to airline-oriented crew resource management, jet aircraft handling concepts, and representative operational scenarios—supporting our ultimate goal of producing highly competent, airline-ready pilots.” All Nippon Airways selects Airbus for new flight training programme Airbus and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have signed a comprehensive flight training agreement to build the airline’s next generation of pilots, further expanding a strategic partnership that spans nearly four decades. To address the growing demand for highly skilled commercial pilots, Airbus will deliver an ab-initio pilot training programme for cadets across the ANA Group and partner airlines. The curriculum will be held at Sevenair Academy in Ponte de Sor, Portugal, taking aspiring aviators with no prior flight experience through every training phase to become a licensed pilot. The inaugural cohort of 19 cadets is scheduled to begin training later this year.
