Asian Aviation Magazine editor Matt Driskill is In Conversation with Alex Hungate, the president and chief executive officer of Singapore-based ground handler and caterer SATS. Hungate has overall responsibility for leading the SATS Group. He is a board director and a member of the board executive committee. Hungate joined SATS as executive director in July 2013 and assumed his current role on 1 January 2014. Prior to that, Hungate was the chief executive officer of HSBC Singapore. He joined HSBC in 2007 as group managing director of personal financial services and marketing, based in London. With over 25 years of global leadership experience, Hungate also served as the managing director, Asia- Pacific for Reuters, based in Hong Kong, and co-chief executive officer, Americas and global chief marketing officer for Reuters, based in New York. Hungate first joined the SATS board as an independent director in July 2011. He serves as a board member of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), is a member of the Future Economy Council, and is an independent director of United Overseas Bank (UOB) Limited. Hungate holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Oxford University and graduated as a Baker Scholar from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at Harvard.

SATS provides a range of aviation and non-aviation services to clients around the world. Some of these services include aviation, commercial and institutional catering, food production and distribution capabilities, as well as a growing network of central kitchens for food service chains and institutions. The company also provides a range of ground services for passenger and cargo flights, as well as security services.

Matthew Driskill
Matt Driskill is the Editor of Asian Aviation. He has been an Asia-based journalist and content producer since 1990 for outlets including Reuters and the International Herald Tribune/New York Times and is a former president of the Foreign Correspondents Club of Hong Kong. He appears on international broadcast outlets like Al Jazeera, CNA and the BBC and has taught journalism at Hong Kong University and American University of Paris. In 2022 Driskill received the "Outstanding Achievement Award" from the Aerospace Media Awards Asia organisation for his editorials and in 2024 received a "Special Recognition for Editorial Perspectives" award from the same organisation. Driskill has received awards from the Associated Press for Investigative Reporting and Business Writing and in 1989 was named the John J.
