Vietjet welcomed nearly 400 passengers at Sydney International Airport who arrived on its inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City. The airline also recently celebrated the launch of the Ho Chi Minh City – Melbourne service with a vibrant dance performance at Melbourne Airport. These debut flights mark the beginning of Vietjet’s six weekly return flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolis, to Melbourne and Sydney, with Brisbane twice weekly service to commence from June.
Vietjet Chief Operations Officer, Michael Hickey said: “The first two routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney have proved Vietjet’s strong commitment to provide multiple services for Australians to explore Vietnam and other Asian destinations through our diverse classes of SkyBoss Business, SkyBoss, Deluxe and Eco. Vietjet’s affordable fares and dedicated services on new A330 aircraft will also ease traveling from Asia to the Oceania, making traveling in the region the most convenient ever in the coming time. Our inaugural flights have seen a full flight capacity both ways and we are thankful for the great responses from our passengers, partners and the governments of the two countries for making Vietjet’s new milestone memorable.”
Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Culbert said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Vietjet to Sydney Airport, as the airline will be providing a great low-cost option to this sought-after destination. Vietjet’s extensive domestic network will also deliver greater choice for passengers wanting to explore other cities across Vietnam. As Australia marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Vietnam, it’s fitting that our 50th airline is a Vietnamese carrier.”
