A second crew of Indian company Sky One Airways Ltd started an advanced professional retraining programme for a new type of Mi-171A2 helicopter. The course takes place at the aviation training centre of Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, part of Russian Helicopters Holding Company, Rostec State Corporation. The programme for Indian pilots involves theoretical training as well as a simulator and flight training on the Mi-171A2 helicopter. In early 2021, experts from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation conducted a preliminary inspection of the training center for verification purposes.
During training of the flight personnel, Russian Helicopters pays special attention to providing instructions on the procedures and rules of operating helicopter cabin equipment and its systems, piloting technique characteristics, aerodynamics, and helicopter flight dynamics. The theoretical training lasts for 170 hours. As part of the programme, the rotorcraft commander and co-pilot of the Indian company Sky One Airways Ltd will spend 12 hours in the cabin of the Mi-171A2 helicopter. Each pilot will have more than nine hours of flight training.
Foreign staff will examine Mi-171A2 aerodynamics, the helicopter’s design and technical operations, its onboard and avionics equipment, as well as VK-2500PS-03 engine with the digital control system and the auxiliary power unit. The training is also focused on exploring flight deck resource management, aviation communications, and radio telephony.
In addition, the training programme includes actions in nonstandard and emergency situations, coupled with preparation for flights involving the helicopter take-off from a difficult spatial position. At the end of this training, Sky One Airways Ltd crew members will receive certificates confirming course completion.
