Solar Flight Pioneer Bertrand Piccard Tells EBACE2017 Attendees: Aviation Can Inspire the Impossible
Bertrand Piccard, founder of Solar Impulse, spoke to EBACE2017 attendees at the Opening General Session, telling them that aviation inspires innovation, and thanking them for not telling him he was crazy to have dreams of flying a solar-powered aircraft around the world when he spoke at the show 10 years ago. Piccard said he heard many times when starting Solar Impulse that it was impossible. “But it is precisely because nobody has done it before that you have to do it,” he said. “Otherwise it will always remain impossible.” Aviation, he said, inspires what is possible.
