Regionals shine in Singapore
The Singapore Airshow 2014 saw orders US$32 billion at list price, surpassing the value of deals announced in 2012.
Regional manufacturers hogged the headlines for a change, with Embraer’s announcement of an order by India’s Air Costa for 50 E2 family jets with 50 options standing out as the deal of the show.
Bombardier also had a good show, with 17 orders or MoUs, while ATR announced 26 new orders and also revealed that Bangkok Airways was the previously unidentified customer for six ATR72-600s.
Airbus beat Boeing by some margin, with a total of 113 order commitments. This included a firming up by VietJet Air of a previously announced order for 42 A320neo aircraft, 14 A320ceo and seven A321ceo units. Lessor Amedeo, previously known as Doric, also confirmed an order for 30 A380s.
Boeing saw Nok Air sign an MoU for seven 737 MAX 8 aircraft and eight 737-800s.
