Recaro Aircraft Seating (Recaro) has been honoured with a Focus Open Special Mention Award for its newest Business Class Seat. The CL6720 Business Class seat was first introduced to the market in 2019 and will be flying on several airlines as of 2022. The CL6720 maximises comfort and space to optimise the experience for business passengers. The mini-suite feel is created through the smooth sliding doors, quality finish and ambient lighting. State-of-the-art ergonomic features include numerous comfort positions, a six-way adjustable headrest, premium foam technology and a 1.98-meter bed length. All mechanisms were developed and programmed in-house at Recaro ensure their operations can be run seamlessly and without jerking.

Sustainability was at the forefront of the design process for the Business Class seat, which resulted in the CL6720 being the lightest seat in its class by 10-20 percent and can help lower CO2 emissions. By finding innovative ways to lengthen the seat’s life cycle with the use of high-quality and durable materials, the CL6720 supports airlines in their pursuit of reducing the industry’s carbon footprint.

“The Focus Open Award is a significant honor and we are happy to see the CL6720 generate some buzz,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO at Recaro Aircraft Seating. “We will use the recognition as a motivator to continue building out our Business Class seat portfolio.”

Every year, hundreds of companies and design agencies from around the world submit their most innovative product and concept solutions. The Focus Open Award competition is held by the Baden Wuerttemberg International Design Academy. This is the sixth Focus Open Award won by Recaro since the competition’s inception in 1991.
