SeoulPratt & Whitney Canada advances certified pre-owned engine programme, signs new agreement with Rotortrade: Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a business unit of Pratt & Whitney, announced global helicopter distributor Rotortrade has signed an agreement that will increase the number of helicopter engines the company will enrol every year to the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Engine Program, further supporting the marketability of their helicopters. “Rotortrade has built its business as the only helicopter dealership that provides nose-to-tail certified pre-owned helicopters,” said Philippe Lubrano, CEO and president of Rotortrade. “CPO delivers tangible value to both sellers and buyers of used helicopters. With a certified engine, buyers can make decisions with confidence and then fly their newly purchased aircraft with peace of mind. We are always seeking new and innovative means to deliver benefits to our customer base and Pratt & Whitney Canada’s CPO program does exactly that.” Rotortrade, was one of the first customers of the CPO Engine Programme with Pratt & Whitney Canada in 2018. All Pratt & Whitney Canada helicopter engines are eligible for the CPO Engine Programme, which offers a two-year/500-hour warranty. The engine must have been maintained at a P&WC-owned or designated facility, contain only genuine P&WC parts, and pass a thorough inspection conducted by a licensed inspector. Dealers such as Rotortrade can differentiate their inventory by promoting that their engines come with a P&WC-backed inspection and warranty. Operators can purchase a pre-owned helicopter with peace of mind and confidence knowing the aircraft’s engines have the engine manufacturer’s stamp of approval.

New remote maintenance kit from Pratt & Whitney Canada: Pratt & Whitney Canada announced the rollout of new Remote Maintenance Kits comprised of strategically selected parts and tooling for helicopter engines that will support aircraft availability and maintenance autonomy. The kit is offered to customers enrolled in the company’s Eagle Service™ Plan (ESP) pay-per-hour maintenance plan as part of their investment in the programme. “Similar to a first-aid kit, the Remote Maintenance Kit is kept at the customer’s premises or maintenance facility and used on an ‘as-needed’ basis to ensure operational readiness,” said Christopher (Scott) McElvaine, vice president, Business Development & Commercial Services, Pratt & Whitney Canada. “While our ESP program provides predictable budgeting for engine maintenance and peace of mind, the new Remote Maintenance Kits enhance the value that our customers derive from ESP.” The remote maintenance kits are available to ESP customers flying the following engine models: PT6C-67C, PW207C, PW206C, PW206B2/B3, PW207D1/D2. The strategic collection of engine parts and tooling is contained in a compact and light-weight case. It includes specialised cables, an ignition exciter and Stabilant 22, borescope guide tools to perform engine diagnostic tests, spare parts such as fuel and oil filter elements, retaining rings, and seals – all designed to return a helicopter to service as quickly and efficiently as possible.  With critical parts and tooling on hand, customers avoid parts delivery delays, and shipping and customs issues. “We introduced this concept to customers of our business jet engines several years ago,” said McElvaine. “Based on customer response, we believe the Remote Maintenance Kits will prove popular with our helicopter engine customers as well.”
