Tigerair Taiwan taps Bluebox for A320 IFE

Bluebox Aviation Systems and Tigerair Taiwan will introduce a new inflight entertainment system across the airline’s 17 Airbus A320 aircraft. The deployment will be powered by Bluebox Wow, battery-powered portable wireless system, delivering the Blueview digital services platform to passengers’ personal devices. The service will mark Tigerair Taiwan’s first inflight entertainment system, bringing a new digital dimension to the onboard experience across all flights operating by Tigerair Taiwan. At launch, Tigerair Taiwan passengers will be able to access a standard IFE offering including a mix of non-DRM and DRM-protected content, enabling a broad content line-up spanning regional favourites as well as Hollywood movies and TV. Tigerair Taiwan and Bluebox will expand the platform in a later phase to include order-to-seat retail, building on the airline’s strong inflight ancillary sales performance. The addition will enhance passenger convenience while unlocking further opportunities to grow onboard revenue through seamless digital ordering. “Tigerair Taiwan has built a strong reputation for driving ancillary performance, and we’re delighted to help amplify that success with the right digital tools and a flexible infrastructure,” said Kevin Clark, CEO, Bluebox Aviation Systems. “Bluebox Wow and Blueview allow airlines to introduce a modern inflight entertainment experience quickly, while laying the foundations for future services such as onboard retail – without the complexity of traditional installations.” Bernard Hsu, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Spokesman, Tigerair Taiwan, said, ““This partnership with Bluebox supports our goal of enhancing the onboard journey with a simple, accessible digital experience for our passengers. Launching inflight entertainment for the first time is an important step in evolving our service offering.” Lufthansa Technik Malta completes first 787 cabin modification Lufthansa Technik successfully completed its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner cabin modification at its European Center of Excellence for widebody Base Maintenance Services in Malta. This strategic achievement marks an important step for Lufthansa Technik Malta’s growing widebody service portfolio. The comprehensive modification included the removal and installation of a new seating configuration and a full upgrade of cabin monuments designed to enhance comfort, efficiency, and passenger experience. The program is carried out in close collaboration with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing, which contracted and supported the modification package, as well as with the operator Lufthansa. It featured significant technical complexity, including the conversion of a bay in Malta to accommodate increased space requirements, and involved substantial logistical efforts due to the replacement of an existing cabin with a new one. A further six cabin modifications of this type are scheduled to be completed in Malta until the end of the year. “Completing our first Boeing 787 cabin modification is a proud moment for the entire team,” said Marcus Motschenbacher, Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Aircraft Maintenance Services at Lufthansa Technik. “This program showcases our technical capabilities, our reliability, and the dedication of our workforce. The 787 platform requires deep expertise, and our ability to deliver this project with precision and on time clearly demonstrates that we are ready to support even more widebody projects in the future.” “This collaboration between Boeing and Lufthansa Technik helps to expand post-delivery retrofit options for the 787 Dreamliner fleet,” said Lindsey Douglas, Vice President, Cabin, Modifications, Maintenance & Digital Services at Boeing. “As a Boeing Licensed Service Center, Lufthansa Technik will add vital capacity to deliver tailored cabin modifications that meet the unique needs of the flying fleet.” “I am very pleased that Lufthansa Technik and Boeing teamed up to bring new technology aircraft more quickly into our operations,” said Thomas Spriesterbach, Accountable Manager Part-145 & NPCA (Nominated Person Continuing Airworthiness) at Lufthansa Airlines Technical Fleet Management. “Especially the new Allegris cabin installed here in Malta is the game changer for our passengers. A big thank you to the Lufthansa Technik team, who made the installation seamless.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Matt Driskill at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Head of Sales Sally Passey at [email protected]
