Singapore Airlines launches Flight Pass; SIA, Scoot resume service to India via VTLs

Singapore Airlines (SIA) said it has launched Flight Pass, a new product that will allow customers to make advance purchases of discounted bundles of flight tickets that can be used against future bookings. Flight Pass will initially be offered on SIA services between Singapore and France, Italy, South Korea, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. This includes the quarantine-free Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights from these destinations to Singapore, if their trip starts from Singapore. Flight Pass will be progressively expanded to other points in the SIA network. The key feature of Flight Pass is its flexibility. Customers may lock in discounted air fares for multiple flights, and decide on their travel dates at their convenience, subject to seat availability. The travel can be customised based on parameters such as destinations, the number of flights, the travel period, and fare type. The tickets in each Flight Pass bundle can also be shared with family members, friends, colleagues, or anyone else that the buyer chooses. This allows the travellers to enjoy cost savings by pooling together their travel. Flight Pass is offered in collaboration with Optiontown, a US-based provider of innovative travel options. Lee Lik Hsin, executive vice president Commercial, Singapore Airlines said: “As more quarantine-free international travel flights become available, Flight Pass offers Singapore Airlines customers greater flexibility and options when planning their trips. It allows them to enjoy greater cost savings by pooling their travel, and tailoring it according to their preferences. SIA will continue to find innovative ways to add value and offer even better choices for our customers. Service to India (PHOTO: Scoot) The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group said it welcomed the recent agreement to resume scheduled passenger services between Singapore and India. This includes Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore. These arrangements will allow families and loved ones to finally reunite, as well as support the demand for business travel between the two countries. Subject to regulatory approval, SIA will operate daily VTL services from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore from 29 November 2021. These flights are open for booking and will be indicated as VTL flights on the airline’s website accordingly. Additionally, SIA will progressively operate non-VTL services from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kolkata to Singapore from 30 November 2021. Scoot will operate four-times weekly non-VTL services between Singapore and Hyderabad from 30 November 2021, and three-times weekly non-VTL services between Singapore and Tiruchirappalli from 2 December 2021. These flights are open for booking. Customers who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and wish to travel on the VTL services need to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) prior to their visa application. VTP applications must be made between seven and 60 calendar days before the intended date of entry into Singapore. Customers must also ensure that they are eligible to travel under the VTL arrangements before their flight. Short-term visitors from India may only enter Singapore via the Vaccinated Travel Lane or the Familial Ties Lane. Customers travelling to Singapore from India on non-VTL flights will need to adhere to the Category (II) Travel and Health Control Measures laid down by the Singapore government.
