Korean Air celebrates 50 years of international flight

Korean Air celebrates 50 years of international flight Korean Air operated a special flight to celebrate 50 years since its first international flight on 2 October. The special flight, KE683, flew from Incheon, South Korea to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Korean Air, founded on 1 March 1969, operated its first international flight in the same year, on 2 October from Seoul, Korea to Ho Chi Minh and 50 years later, Korean Air has grown into a global airline reaching 124 cities in 44 countries. Korean Air held an event at Incheon Airport, during the flight, and at Ho Chi Minh Airport, to commemorate the airline’s first international flight. Korean Air used a promotional aircraft designed with the 50th anniversary emblem for its special flight. The aircraft livery depicts the number 50 with a plane flying over it alongside the slogan “Beyond 50 Years of Excellence”. The number 50 symbolises Korean Air’s 50th anniversary and features a stylised taegeuk design. Taegeuk is the iconic symbol of the Korean flag. On the memorable flight, former members of Korean Air’s female crew, or Korean Air Stewardess Alumni, were invited onboard.  Kim Tae-soon, 75, and six other former flight attendants, who attended the inaugural flight ceremony for the Seoul-Ho Chi Minh route in 1969, were back on a Korean Air flight after 50 years.
