Finnair strengthens its Japan network

Finnair is responding to growing demand for travel to Asia, and Japan in particular, by increasing flights to Tokyo for the 2027 summer season. The airline will add frequencies on its Tokyo Narita route during the peak summer travel period, operating up to two daily flights to the destination. In addition, Finnair will continue to serve Tokyo Haneda Airport daily. With the additional Narita frequencies, Finnair will offer a record number of connections between Helsinki and Tokyo next summer, with up to three daily flights at peak times. The flights have been timed to provide smooth onward connections from Japan across Finnair’s European network. “Japan is our biggest market after Finland and demand for flights to Japan has remained strong. We have been steadily increasing our capacity to Japan for the past years, and the additional Narita frequencies will allow us to offer our customers greater choice and even more convenient connections to Tokyo, which is by far the most popular of our destinations in Japan,” says Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer. With the additional frequencies, Finnair’s services to Japan will increase from 28 weekly flights operated this summer to up to 32 weekly flights during the summer of 2027, further strengthening Finnair’s position as one of the largest airlines between Europe and Japan. Finnair operates year-round services to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita and Osaka. In summer, Finnair also flies to Nagoya as the only European airline to operate flights to the city. Etihad goes double daily to Sydney Etihad Airways will fly double daily between Abu Dhabi and Sydney from 15 December 2026, in time for the Australian summer holidays. Etihad has served Sydney since 2007. Four weekly flights join the current ten, giving guests a choice of two departures every day of the week, all on the Etihad Airbus A350, and over 5,000 seats a week between the two cities. In Business, guests slide the door closed on a private space with a 79-inch lie-flat bed, wireless charging and an 18.5-inch screen. In Economy, seats are 17.4 inches wide with a 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen and Bluetooth audio. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the aircraft. Etihad’s Australian network also includes daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne on the Boeing 787.
