Australia’s Microflite orders Tecnam P2012 STOL for Tasmanian tours

Tecnam announced that Melbourne, Australia-based Microflite Group has selected the Tecnam P2012 STOL for its Par Avion tourism operations in Tasmania and will shortly take delivery of two aircraft facilitated by Tecnam’s Australian representative, Hallmarc Aviation. Certified in 2024, the P2012 STOL is an 11-seat, high-wing, twin-engine, short take-off and landing, CS-23 EASA and FAA IFR certified aircraft, produced by leading Italian manufacturer, Tecnam. The P2012 STOL flight deck features an advanced cockpit environment, based on the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite, and Garmin GFC-700 autopilot. It has been tailored to allow a reduced workload, while enhancing single-pilot operations. Rodney Higgins, CEO of the Microflite Group, which now includes Microflite Aviation, Par Avion, Airlines of Tasmania and Cambridge Airport, says, “For our extended fixed wing services in Tasmania’s remote and rugged terrain and other locations, we looked at all currently available options. The modern and safe P2012 STOL, was the clear winner. Other key factors in our choice of Tecnam were the high quality support and guidance provided by local representative, Hallmarc Aviation, and the short order to delivery time within six months.” Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 Sales & Business Development Manager, says, “The P2012 was designed with a challenging aviation environment, like Australia, always in the background. The STOL variant represents the ideal solution for Par Avion’s operations in SW Tasmania, as it makes one of the world’s most worthwhile scenic experiences better accessible, with unprecedented comfort, safety and style. We are proud to be partnering with Microflite Group to provide a long-term air access solution to the beautiful remote and pristine Bathurst Harbour region, located in the rugged southwest wilderness of Tasmania.” Michael Loccisano, CEO of Hallmarc Aviation, says, “Microflite Group’s acquisition of two P2012 aircraft brings the number of P2012 aircraft in Australia to seven, with more operators in discussions to add the P2012 to their fleet. The P2012 is fast becoming Australia’s commuter airliner of choice, with Continental or Lycoming engine options. With STOL, medivac, survey, freight, combo, and VIP versions available, and quality local support, we expect to see many more operating in Australia soon.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Matt Driskill at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Head of Sales Sally Passey at [email protected]
