Asian Aviation contributors win top awards

Two contributing writers for Asian Aviation Magazine recently scored top wins at the Aerospace Media Awards Asia at the Singapore Airshow, continuing a string of awards dating back to at least 2022. Michael Doran Australia-based contributing writer Michael Doran received the top award for reporting on the helicopter industry with his story, Helicopters Are Here To Stay in the May-June issue in 2024. Doran previously was awarded the 2022 Best Business Aviation Submission. “I am proud that my feature in Asian Aviation has been selected as the Best Asia-Pacific Rotorcraft/Vertical Flight submission in the 2026 Aerospace Media Awards Asia. Thanks to Peter Bradfield and the judges for recognising and supporting aviation journalists and congratulations to fellow winners and nominees,” Doran said. Doran specialises in aviation and aerospace, with a focus on airlines, aircraft, airports, helicopters, MRO, route networks, and emerging aviation technology. He has conducted exclusive interviews with CEOs of some of the world’s most influential airlines, including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Etihad, Korean Air, Air New Zealand, Air Asia, Virgin Australia, Cebu Pacific and Air Astana. Roetta Wang Joining Doran in winning a top award was Hong Kong-based Roetta Wang, who is a new contributor to Asian Aviation. Wang received the Best New Asia-Pacific Journalist award in recognition of her work on aviation in China. “I’m deeply honoured to receive the award for Best New Journalist,” said Wang. “My journey in aviation reporting began just half a year ago, and it has been an exciting process of learning new things and exploring a fascinating field.
