Alliance Aviation pays US$79.4 million for E190 fleet

Australian charter company Alliance Aviation said Monday it will spend US$79.4 million to buy a fleet of 14 Embraer E190 aircraft from lessor Azorra Aviation in the US. The acquisition includes ground support equipment, training equipment, six spare GE C34 engines, an option to buy five more E190s, an option for a full flight simulator. (PHOTO: Embraer) “With many airlines not flying and the increased demand for a 100-seat narrowbody configured aircraft in the Australian market, this acquisition is more than opportunistic, it underpins our expected growth,” said Alliance Managing Director Scott McMillan. “Our Fokker fleet remains the core of our fleet and we believe will remain in service for many years to come, especially given our significant spare parts and inventory stores. With limited Fokker aircraft acquisition opportunities, it was also the time to acquire a newer aircraft in order to position us for out next growth phase.” Alliance said it expects the new planes to fly regional routes. Alliance operates mainly in the contract and charter sectors and has more than 550 employees. It currently has 24 Fokker F100s, 13 Fokker 70LR jets and five Fokker 50 turboprops. The company maintains bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Rockhampton.
