Albans signs security services deal for Cambodian airports

Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) and Albans Management SA have signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract to provide aviation security services for international airports in Cambodia. The contract was signed by Mao Havanall, Minister in Charge of State Secretariat of Civil Aviation  and  Raphael Albaladejo, representative of Albans, in Phnom Penh. Albans will have exclusive rights to provide aviation security services at all international airports of Cambodia, such as Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, Sihanoukville International Airport, Darasakor International Airport, and other airports as required at the actual demand in the future, according to local media reports. Under the name of the Security Aviation Kampuchea Co., Ltd (Sakam), the firm will be providing aviation security services under a 15-year concession in the form of Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT). Cambodia’s international airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville welcomed a combined 2.48 million passengers in the first six months of 2023, representing a 270 percent year-on-year increase, according to SSCC’s report. The airports averaged a combined 404 flight movements per week, with Phnom Penh by far the busiest with 602 weekly flight movements. The Ministry of Tourism placed its projection that Cambodia will be able to receive up to 5 million international tourists in 2023, an expected increase of 120 percent from 2.27 million in 2022.
