Air India deploying new 787-9 to Frankfurt

Air India announced an enhancement to its popular Mumbai-Frankfurt route, with the deployment of its newly delivered, first line-fit (or made-for-Air India) B787-9 aircraft featuring new cabin interiors, starting 1 February 2026. Air India operates between Mumbai and Frankfurt five times every week, providing reliable connectivity between the financial hubs of India and Germany. With this, all Air India flights to Germany are now operated by new or upgraded aircraft, including flights between Delhi and Frankfurt. These upgrades reflect Air India’s ongoing fleet transformation, which will see additional widebody deliveries and retrofits throughout 2026, delivering modernised interiors to a significant portion of the long-haul fleet. Adding further value for passengers, Air India maintains an active codeshare partnership with Lufthansa, which enables Air India guests to take seamless connections beyond Frankfurt to 29 destinations across Europe and select points in North America and South America. Air India’s optimised flight schedules to Europe allow travellers from Frankfurt and other parts of Europe to take convenient one-stop connections via Delhi or Mumbai to several popular destinations in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia, and vice-versa. This enhanced connectivity enables seamless journeys to cities such as Bangkok, Bali, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Phuket, and Singapore, making it easier for business and leisure travellers to explore vibrant Asian hubs and beyond. Scoot resumes Singapore-Palembang direct flights Low-cost carrier Scoot has officially resumed its direct flight route connecting Singapore’s Changi International Airport (SIN) with Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport (PLM), Palembang. Scoot operates round-trip flights on this route four times weekly flying the Embraer E190-E2 and Airbus A320 aircraft. Palembang, as the capital city of South Sumatra Province, offers a unique blend of scenic river landscapes, rich culinary traditions, and a strong historical heritage, making it a city with its own distinctive charm in Indonesia. The presence of this international route also marks an important step for Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport Palembang in strengthening its position as an international gateway in South Sumatra. In addition to driving passenger growth, this new service is expected to generate positive impacts on regional tourism and the local economy. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the flight is scheduled to depart from SIN at 20.45 local time and arrive in PLM at 21.10 local time. The return flight from PLM to SIN is scheduled to depart at 21.45 local time. Meanwhile, on Thursday and Saturday, flight scheduled to depart from SIN at 05.55 local time and arrive in PLM at 06.20 local time. The return flight from PLM to SIN is scheduled to depart at 07.10 local time.
