Oxford Aviation Academy has signed a new training deal with Tiger Airways shortly after winning type rating training organisation approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) – becoming the first foreign training firm to get this approval.
The new multi-year training services agreement will provide ab initio graduates through a new airline pilot Cadet Programme with Tiger Airways – the APP First Officer (APPFO) Cadet Programme.
Training will take place in Singapore, Hong Kong and Melbourne and will include a new generation Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) fleet of training aircraft and simulators.
With this new TRTO approval in place, OAA’s Hong Kong training centre is able to deliver approved A320 and A330 Type Rating Training programmes leading to the issue of a CAAS Type Rating.
Jetstar Asia will also be training it pilots on the back of the new approval, which OAA says enables it to develop bespoke training programmes to address the manpower gaps for pilots within the region’s airline industry. OAA received Flight Training Organisation (FTO) from CAAS in 2011.

OAA now has training approval from the CAAC in China, CAAV in Vietnam, HK CAD in Hong Kong as well as CAAS in Singapore.
