LHT signs A330/340 deal with China Airlines
Lufthansa Technik (LHT) and China Airlines have signed a long-term contract for component services for the airline’s Airbus A330/A340 fleet.
With effect from 20 May, LHT will provide Total Component Support (TCS) services for 18 Airbus A330-300 twinjets and six, four-engine Airbus A340-300s operated by the Taiwanese carrier.
Under the agreement, the German company’s component experts in Hamburg will supply an extensive range of services: maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), consignment stock optimization, supply chain management and home base stock allocation, reliability enhancement programs, documentation and warranty management.
“We in China Airlines are committed to improving our customer service, while at the same time continuing our drive to manage costs more effectively,” says Derek Cridland, senior vice-president of maintenance and engineering for China Airlines. “We are confident that, with their strong technical and engineering capabilities, Lufthansa Technik will deliver high-quality and efficient services to our aircraft fleet.”
The China Airlines contract further expands LHT’s market presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
ST Engineering appoints Chang as new president
Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) has appointed Chang Cheow Teck as the new president of Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace).
Chang, 50, was up to now president of Singapore Technologies Marine. In his new post, he succeeds Tay Kok Khiang, who retired 1 May after 17 years of service with the group.
Tay joined the group in 1993 and became president of ST Aerospace in July 2001. He is credited with steering the growth of the aerospace business, which today is recognised as the world’s largest commercial airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider. He also diversified the company, making it a leading aircraft engines and components power-by-the-hour and repair services provider, as well as a leader in engineering development capabilities.
Under Tay’s leadership, ST Aerospace developed a global MRO network with an extensive customer base.
Chang has been with the group since 1990 and spent 16 years of his career in the aerospace sector. He previously held several senior-management posts within the group, including: executive vice-president commercial business at ST Aerospace; president of Vision Technologies Systems; and president of defence business at Singapore Technologies Kinetics. As president of special projects at ST Engineering, Chang was closely involved in identifying growth opportunities for the group, resulting in several acquisitions. He was appointed president of ST Marine in March 2008.
