Moment buys e-commerce company Airfree

In-flight digital company Moment has acquired e-commerce company Airfree. This strategic transaction confirms Moment’s ambition to transform the passenger experience and develop innovative solutions for the transport industry. With this acquisition, Moment has taken another major step forward in its expansion. Its range of connected services is designed to meet the growing expectations of passengers, while generating additional revenues for airlines. With Airfree’s innovative solution, already adopted by leading airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Moment is now able to offer an unprecedented on-board marketplace solution, connected to over 350 duty-free stores worldwide. Passengers can access a wide selection of products via the seat-back screens or their personal devices, far beyond the items traditionally available in-flight. They can order securely in real time and choose from several delivery options, whether on board, at the airport or directly to their home. Airfree is distinguished by a patented technology that optimises in-flight bandwidth. This innovation enables airlines to offer a high-performance service in real time, even under restricted connectivity conditions. As a result, airlines have new opportunities to generate additional revenue while enriching their passengers’ user experience. Since its creation in 2013, Moment has positioned itself as a key player in in-flight entertainment and digital services. With its onboard systems (Flymingo) and software platforms (Mood), deployed in air, rail and sea, the company not only enhances the passenger experience but also offers unprecedented business opportunities for transport operators. The integration of Airfree marks a new phase in this ambition. At a time when the transport industry is at a turning point, with rapid growth and ever-increasing personalisation needs, Moment’s acquisition of Airfree offers a tailor-made response to the new challenges facing transport operators. Moment thus reinforces its ambition to become an essential partner for transport operators. The company also plans to deploy this versatile technology in other sectors, notably rail and maritime, where the need for connectivity and on-board services continues to evolve. “In a rapidly transforming transport sector, marked by major decarbonisation challenges, we must constantly innovate to accelerate the digitalisation of on-board services and operations, for the benefit of passengers and airlines alike,” says Tanguy Morel, CEO of Moment. “This initiative enables us to take a technological step forward in e-commerce and marketplace, while strengthening our range of innovative solutions, designed to meet our customers’ needs.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Matt Driskill at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Head of Sales Kay Rolland at [email protected]
