Mirus Aircraft Seating has appointed Nick Targett, a renowned and highly-experienced Engineer, to manage its dynamic testing facility, M-TEST.
Targett joined the team at the newly-opened facility based in Hingham, Norfolk, in May and will lead the team in managing the development of Mirus’ products through rigorous in-house testing, as well as overseeing the lending of testing to external parties, should capacity permit.
Targett brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked for more than forty years at the prestigious Millbrook Proving Ground – spending the last seven of those years managing its test facility – where he oversaw the ServoSled, Crash Test and Safety Systems, and supported in conducting tests for a variety of customers in the automotive and medical equipment sectors. His background in the automotive industry contributes aptly to Mirus’ ethos, which prides itself on taking the best practices from the automotive industry and applying them to aerospace.
Targett’s extensive knowledge and experience ranges from all aspects of vehicle safety related testing, from anthropomorphic test devices (test dummies), to instrumentation and data acquisition systems, to high speed camera sectors. His skillset, combined with the cutting-edge technology found at the brand-new dynamic test facility, sees M-TEST rival some of the best facilities across Europe, allowing Mirus to develop market-leading products more efficiently than ever.
Nick Targett, Test Facility Manager at M-TEST says, “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join Mirus at this exciting time, to manage M-TEST as it cements itself as one of the UK’s leading test facilities. Responsible for the management and operation of the facility, I will be working to ensure that it is operating effectively and independently to support all Mirus’ requirements, as well as the requirements of all future potential customers.
“I will also be working with our team of class-leading engineers in the testing and development of seats, further helping Mirus to achieve its full potential.”
Ben McGuire, CEO of Mirus Aircraft Seating, says, “Nick is a welcome asset to our new dynamic test facility as M-TEST establishes itself as its own entity. While Nick will be vital in the development of Mirus’ own products in the first instance, his role will also allow M-TEST to operate completely independently of Mirus.
“With Nick overseeing all work pertaining to the facility, we can ensure that when the time comes to lend our testing capacity, external parties can test their product safely in the knowledge that all testing is done autonomously and therefore completely confidential to M-TEST.
“Our vision for M-TEST is to attract customers from across the UK and further afield who are seeking the most technologically advanced testing available, and we look forward to Nick’s support in making this vision a reality.”
