Langkawi the new Aviation hub for Rayani Air
New budget airline, Rayani Air Sdn Bhd, has picked Langkawi as its aviation hub in its effort to attract more tourists to the resort island. Its Managing Director, Ravi Alagendrran, said a Boeing 737-400 would commence the Langkawi-Kota Bharu flight operation while another would begin the Langkawi-Kuala Lumpur destination.
“The company has allocated two planes for overseas flight operations next year,” Alagendrran said at the launch of Rayani Air at the Langkawi International Airport today.
Meanwhile, Kedah Religious, Siamese Community Affairs, Tourism and Heritage, Public Works Committee Chairman, Datuk Mohd Rawi Abd Hamid, said increase in flight operations in the island would boost tourist arrivals to Langkawi from 3.5 million tourists annually.
He said currently, Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, Firefly and Malindo Air, he said have flight operations to Langkawi.
Mohd Rawi said several events had been arranged in conjunction to the Visit Kedah year 2016, to attract tourists within and outside the country.
