Korean Air’s financial results for Q2 2025

Korean Air has reported stable second-quarter revenue of KRW 3.9859 trillion (USD 2.9386 billion), despite ongoing global economic headwinds and trade tensions. The airline’s effective capacity management helped maintain revenue levels, though operating profit declined 3.5% year-on-year due to higher personnel and depreciation costs—offsetting gains from lower fuel prices.

Passenger revenue for the quarter totalled KRW 2.3965 trillion, representing a modest 2% year-on-year decrease. This was mitigated by agile network adjustments during the seasonal off-peak period and a spike in travel demand during Korea’s early May holidays, allowing the airline to uphold key profitability metrics.

Cargo revenue stood at KRW 1.0554 trillion, down 4% compared to the same period last year. Korean Air countered challenging market conditions—exacerbated by U.S. tariff policy volatility—by expanding its portfolio of high-yield shipments, including semiconductors, batteries, solar cells, and seasonal perishables.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, Korean Air expects robust passenger demand as the summer peak travel season begins. The airline plans to optimise revenue by dynamically managing capacity across major routes. On the cargo front, efforts will focus on enhancing network flexibility and maintaining responsiveness to evolving market conditions, particularly those linked to global trade policies.
