Jet Aviation announced that it has launched initial operations at its FBO at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. The new facility is Jet Aviation’s 12th FBO in the US, joining a global network of some 30 FBOs worldwide. The company announced it had broken ground on the new facility in October 2024, with full completion scheduled for mid-2026. Initial operations launched today with a wide range of services for passengers, crew and aircraft, including a terminal, a 540,000 square-foot ramp able to accommodate larger-cabin, ultra-long range business jets, two new taxiway connections into the airport system, fuelling with Jet-A, 100LL and sustainable aviation fuel, and drive-on access to the ramp via a private entrance.
“Jet Aviation set up its first FBO in the US in 1984, and since then we have been committed to evolving our presence in the region to support our customers when and where they need us,” says David Best, senior vice president regional operations Americas. “Miami continues to develop as a business aviation hub for both domestic and international travel, offering a global gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. A footprint here enables us to continue to build on our legacy of seamless service across the US, and beyond.”
Upon completion next year, the newly built facility will also feature an 8,500 square-foot Silver LEED-certified FBO building with a private entrance on the west side of the airfield, electric vehicle charging systems, LED lighting and photovoltaic panels, on-site Customs and Border Protection, dedicated office space and 40,000 square feet of hangar space available for nightly transient parking.
“We are committed to providing a safe, seamless experience across our network, and the team has been working closely with our design, construction and local partners to ensure that the FBO meets the needs and expectations of our customers,” says Daniel Larsen, vice president business development. “As we begin initial operations and continue our work toward full opening in 2026, I would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this very special project to life.”
Established in Basel, Switzerland in 1967, Jet Aviation opened its first FBO in the US in 1984, in Bedford, Massachusetts. This was followed by a facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1985, and in Teterboro, New Jersey, in 1988. Today, the company operates some 30 FBOs worldwide, including two new locations acquired in the past year; Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in October 2024, and Paris-Le Bourget, France, in August 2025.
Jet Aviation is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) with over 4,500 employees and 50 locations worldwide. Jet Aviation’s offerings include aircraft management, aircraft sales, charter, completions, government programs, FBO, maintenance and staffing.
ExecuJet MRO Services South Africa completes ADS-B installations

ExecuJet MRO Services South Africa, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dassault Aviation, has successfully completed a series of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) installations across various business jet types. The work follows a recent South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) directive mandating that all aircraft operating in South African airspace be ADS-B Out compliant and fitted with the relevant ADS-B/Mode S 1090 MHz Extended Squitter transponders. This requirement enhances real-time tracking and strengthens the safety and efficiency of airspace management.
ExecuJet’s avionics team at Johannesburg’s Lanseria International Airport performed ADS-B modifications on several Bombardier, Learjet, Embraer, Hawker and Beechcraft platforms, including two Learjet 45s and a Hawker 800XP, with similar additional upgrades scheduled before year-end.
“Our team is very experienced doing such installations,” says Vince Goncalves, Regional VP Africa, ExecuJet MRO Services. “As an authorised dealer for major global avionic equipment manufacturers (OEMs), we are capable of supporting business jet owners and operators with complex avionic upgrades that meet the latest international standards.”
Depending on the aircraft configuration, ADS-B upgrades may involve installing or upgrading a DO-260B compliant transponder and enhancing the GPS system for Wide Area Augmentation (WAAS) capability. ExecuJet MRO Services South Africa’s Lanseria facility is certified to perform ADS-B upgrades on a broad range of business aircraft in accordance with OEM service bulletins and/or approved supplemental type certificates.
