https://utm.io/uhjqxHong Kong Airlines has inaugurated its new daily direct service to Chiang Mai, Thailand, offering travellers more options for exploring the popular destinations of Northern Thailand. The launch coincides with Thailand’s Loy Krathong (Festival of Light) in November, allowing travellers to experience the vibrant parades and celebrations.

Chiang Mai becomes Hong Kong Airlines’ third destination in Thailand, joining Bangkok and Phuket, with daily flights now available. To commemorate the inaugural flight, a celebration was held at the Hong Kong International Airport, and was officiated by Jeff Sun, President of Hong Kong Airlines; Chaturont Chaiyakam, Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong; Phornmon Chansri, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand; and Ricky Chong, Assistant General Manager, Hub Development of the Airport Authority Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Airlines President Sun said: “Thailand is one of our most popular destinations, and in addition to Chiang Mai, we operate five daily flights to Bangkok and a daily flight to Phuket, all of which are performing very well. Coupled with the recent launch of our routes to Laos and Da Nang, this expansion strengthens our network across Southeast Asia and reinforces Hong Kong Airlines’ commitment to enhancing connectivity along the Belt and Road, facilitating trade, and promoting cultural and economic exchange.”

Vietjet starts Nha Trang-Daegu route
Vietjet has launched its 12th direct service between Vietnam and South Korea connecting Nha Trang South Korea’s southeastern city Daegu. New flights from Cam Ranh International Airport in Nha Trang to Daegu take off at 00:20 (local time), land at 6:50 the following day (local time).

The flights from Daegu International Airport to Nha Trang depart at 7:50 am (local time), and touch down at 11:00 am (local time). This new route strengthens Vietjet’s extensive flight network between Vietnam and South Korea in the last decade, which has served nearly 11 million passengers since 2014. Vietjet now operates 12 direct routes linking Vietnam’s major hubs and tourism cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Hai Phong with key South Korean cities of Seoul (via Incheon Airport), Busan, Daegu with with over 300 flights weekly between Vietnam and South Korea, offering convenient travel options for both business and leisure.

In the first nine months of 2024, Vietnam has welcomed 12.7 million international visitors, 3.3 million of which are from South Korea, making South Korea as Vietnam’s largest international market. This increase has significantly contributed to the development of economic, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
