smar imageGE Evergreen Engine Services (GEEVES), a joint venture between Evergreen Aviation Technology Corp (EGAT) and GE Aviation, announced the opening in October of a new component repair site located at Guanyin Industrial Park in Taiwan. Previous component repairs were performed at GEEVES’ existing overhaul site at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport. All new component repair work will move to the new location which is 16 kilometres away. The new facility allows more capacity to grow overhaul and repair operations to support customers.

“The new three-floor facility is more than 13,000 square meters, enabling us to increase our in-house repair capabilities and capacity for world-class engines like the GEnx and CF6,” said Joe Tai, general manager of GEEVES. “The move also allows us to cater to third-party component repair business needs.”

Due to capacity constraints, GEEVES has been sending some engine components to various locations outside of Taiwan for repair during the engine overhaul process. GEEVES now plans to keep most of its repairs in-house at its new location. By expanding the repair work at GEEVES, this will reduce shipping costs and could help improve turnaround time for engine overhauls and parts repair for customers. GE Aviation and EGAT announced the formation of GEEVES in 2014, with an initial focus on the overhaul of CF6-80C and-80E and GEnx-1B and -2B engines. Since the formation, GEEVES has expanded its capabilities in component repairs for GEnx and CF6 engine lines.

“This expansion with a new component repair site has been many years in the making, and a lot of hard work has been involved by GE Aviation, EGAT, and GEEVES to get us here,” Tai said. “Working together in this way has been a win-win for both companies and we are focused on continuing to provide outstanding service for our customers.”

GEEVES has more than 500 employees across its two sites, with more than 100 moving to the new facility. More hiring at the new site is planned for 2022. GE Evergreen Engine Services (GEEVES) is a 51/49 joint venture between GE Aviation and EGAT. Formed in 2014 and formally launched in 2020, EGAT engine overhaul shop has more than 20-years of engine overhaul experience. It was spun off from EGAT and integrated into the new JV in 2020. GEEVES is a full engine overhaul provider for the CF6-80C/-80E, as well as GEnx-1B/2B. It serves a global customer base with customised solutions.
