French air traffic control to benefit from FREQUENTIS and CS GROUP voice comms: French Air Navigation Service Provider, DSNA, awarded Frequentis and CS GROUP a 20-year contract to provide a main and back-up IP-based radio/telephone Voice Communication System (VCS) for 14 main air traffic control (ATC) approach and tower control centres. CS GROUP is the consortium representative for the major project and Frequentis is co-contractor. DSNA provides air navigation services for nine French mainland regional and several overseas centres in charge of ATC approach and tower control. The VCS system will be deployed to 14 sites located in metropolitan France (including Bordeaux, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, Paris Orly, Strasbourg among others) and some French oversea territories. Bordeaux will be the first centre to be equipped. Frequentis will supply its market leading VCS3020X for the main VCS while CS GROUP will supply its innovative solution, CSoIP (Communication and Security over IP), for the back-up VCS. Both IP-based integrated secured VCS solutions are compliant with EUROCAE ED 137 standard. The main and back-up VCS will use the new full IP transmitters/receivers deployed in France. The scope of the contract includes the design, supply and maintenance, with a unique functionality that enables the controller to transparently operate the same frequencies and radio channels in main and back-up mode.
Frequentis signs agreement with Indra to digitalise the EUROCONTROL system: Frequentis will partner with Indra for the development of the EUROCONTROL Integrated Operational Airspace Data (iOAD) digital products. This agreement follows EUROCONTROL’s selection of Indra and its partners to perform the digital transformation of its operational systems. The iNM programme will put a range of innovative digital products in place enabling EUROCONTROL to maximise efficiency, safety and sustainability. This programme will replace all current EUROCONTROL Network Manager (NM) operational systems with new digital products that harness big data, artificial intelligence/machine learning and cloud computing. Developing the iNM digital products will be the responsibility of Indra and its partners and will result in a new digital architecture that will harness the power of innovation, enabling NM to deliver ever more integrated business services and products to its stakeholders.
Frequentis and Unmanned Experts join NASA air mobility project: As low flying traffic over urban cities prepares to increase, Frequentis, a global control centre communication provider, and Unmanned Experts, a world-leading autonomous robotics specialist, are joining the NASA Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) project. The two companies will add their unique expertise to this mission, which aims to support the emerging unmanned aviation markets to continue working towards integrating air taxis, which require electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL), cargo delivery aircraft and other new air vehicle concepts into the US national airspace system. The project includes work on Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and will provide substantial benefits to U.S. industry and the public. The AAM project is primarily focused on helping the UAM ecosystem to achieve a maturity level and to provide collaborative and responsive automation.
