Embraer starts deliveries for LATAM’s E195-E2s

LATAM Airlines Brazil and Embraer are celebrating the start of the delivery process for the first E195-E2 in the airline’s history. The aircraft is the first of 12 E195-E2s scheduled to be delivered to LATAM by the end of 2026. Its arrival marks the next step in the plan announced in September 2025, when LATAM Airlines Group disclosed the acquisition of up to 74 aircraft of this model. “We chose the E195-E2 with a clear objective: to continue expanding LATAM’s presence in Brazil sustainably. With the E2, we will connect new markets with strong demand and economic potential to our global network, allowing us to surpass the milestone of 70 airports served in Brazil as early as 2027,” explains Jerome Cadier, CEO of LATAM Airlines Brazil. “We are proud to celebrate the completion of LATAM Airlines Brazil’s first E195-E2. This aircraft will play an important role in the company’s strategy to expand its connectivity, offering the ideal combination of efficiency, operational flexibility, and comfort. It is gratifying to see the E195-E2 contributing to connecting new destinations and supporting the development of air transportation in Brazil,” says Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer. LATAM’s first E195-E2s will begin operations between November 2026 and March 2027. In the first phase, the first 14 E2s will be deployed across 42 routes, including eight new routes and four brand-new destinations in the airline’s network: Cabo Frio (RJ), Ji-Paraná (RO), Macaé (RJ), and Rondonópolis (MT). Once these routes are launched, LATAM Airlines Brasil will operate the largest domestic network in its history in the country. For 2027, the airline is already assessing the viability of up to 18 new destinations using the new aircraft model, continuing its strategy to expand connectivity from its main hubs across the country. The introduction of the E195-E2 increases the airline’s fleet flexibility, allowing it to serve markets with different levels of demand and enable new connections. In 2027, the delivery of an additional 12 aircraft of this model is planned for LATAM Airlines Brazil. Following delivery, the first E195-E2 will move to the final stages required prior to entering service with the airline, including customs procedures, cabin interior approval, and the completion of the certification process with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). LATAM Airlines Brazil is expected to complete certification to operate the E195-E2 roughly one year after announcing the aircraft acquisition. The timeline was reduced thanks to joint effort across various departments of both the airline and Embraer. In an unprecedented move, LATAM deployed a manufacturer demonstration aircraft, known as the “Profit Hunter,” for evacuation demonstrations, evaluation flights, and the training and qualification of pilots and flight attendants. This strategy reduced the time needed to complete these procedures by roughly half, while maintaining all operational safety requirements and standards. LATAM’s new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will feature 136 seats in a 2-2 configuration with no middle seat and will offer Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Premium Economy will offer up to 20 seats, depending on the aircraft configuration. In addition to extra legroom, greater seat recline, and enhanced onboard service in Premium Economy, the aircraft will feature free Wi-Fi for registered LATAM Pass members, USB-C ports at every seat, and access to LATAM Play, the airline’s entertainment platform offering movies, TV shows, music, and other content. The addition of the E195-E2 expands LATAM’s ability to serve markets of different sizes and support the expansion of its network in Brazil, connecting more cities in a disciplined and economically viable way. The E195-E2, the largest aircraft in Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, combines operational efficiency and comfort, featuring up to 30% lower fuel burn compared to first-generation E-Jets, a range of 3,000 nautical miles (5,556 km), and fourth-generation fly-by-wire avionics. Developed with 20 years of operational experience, the E2 family incorporates aerodynamic and technological advancements that reduce carbon emissions by up to 25%. Combined, the E-Jets and E-Jets E2 have surpassed 2,000 aircraft delivered and are operated by more than 80 airlines across 50 countries.
