Cobham’s AVIATOR S wins installation certification on 737 MAX

Cobham Aerospace Communications has announced that its AVIATOR 200S (A200S) Inmarsat SwiftBroadband Satcom system has been granted installation certification on the Boeing 737 MAX by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Certification of A200S, which currently holds an ETSO, will allow installation to begin for the 737 MAX fleet of a major global air carrier.  In addition, Boeing has issued an Airline Configuration Bulletin (ACB) noting that A200S is an available option for the 737-7, 737-8, 737-8-200, 737-9, and 737-10 models. AVIATOR 200S provides secure, segregated Cockpit Safety and Internet Protocol (IP) data and voice communications over the Inmarsat SwiftBroadband-Safety (SB-S) satellite communications network, delivering near-global coverage.  It offers 20x faster data rates vs Classic Aero SATCOM, as well as significantly-reduced installation requirements, power consumption, weight and cost. The latest AVIATOR S systems deliver dramatically-enhanced voice and datalink transmission capabilities, and offer FANS-1/A (Future Air Navigation Systems), CPDLC (Controller Pilot Data Link Communications) and ADS-C (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract) services, along with real-time EFB connectivity. Jen Waterman, Cobham Aerospace Communications’ VPGM, Americas, said, “The FAA installation certification of AVIATOR 200S represents a major validation milestone for this Satcom technology.  We’re excited to share this development with carriers around the world that know and trust the AVIATOR line, and have shown great interest in the capabilities and potential of A200S.” Rabah Bouda, Cobham Aerospace Communications’ SVP Engineering, commented “Achieving the FAA certification has been the result of a great teamwork between Boeing and Cobham Aerospace Communications’ teams worldwide. We are very proud of this achievement and I would like to thank all of them, who invested so much effort and knowledge to make it happen.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Matt Driskill at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Head of Sales Kay Rolland at [email protected]
