China Southern Airlines’ first scheduled Cairns flight arrived in the far north today with thrice weekly services running throughout February to cater for high season demand.
Throughout the busy summer peak, China Southern will operate 41 weekly services to five Australian ports as it continues its rapid expansion down under.
China Southern aircraft has also been chartered by Chinese tour operators for seven Guangzhou to Cairns services and two Guangzhou to Adelaide services over the Chinese New Year period.
China Southern Regional General Manager Australia/New Zealand Henry He said the airline was thrilled to provide the first air bridge between Cairns and the airline’s modern hub in Guangzhou.
“This is a very proud day for China Southern Airlines as our inaugural scheduled service to Cairns arrives and we open up a new direct link between far north Queensland and southern China,” Mr He said.
