China Eastern goes with AFI KLM E&M Component MRO
As China Eastern readies itself to launch A350 services, it has signed a deal for AFI KLM E&M for component MRO support for the 20 aircraft on order. The agreement, signed in November, covers repairs, access to a regional spares pool and the provision of a Main Base Kit of components. It also includes training services and engineering development assistance.
Executive vice president of AFI KLM E&M, Anne Brachet, said: “This is an honour for us and we are proud to support the development of China Eastern, a great airline that never rests on its laurels and is intent on continuously renewing itself. We want to provide China Eastern with component support that lives up to these ambitions.”
Earlier this year a similar agreement was signed covering component MRO for China Eastern’s fleet of B787-9 aircraft, the first of which arrived in September with the fleet expected to grow to four. China Eastern operates a total fleet of around 600 aircraft and with an average fleet age of 5.5 years old it is one of the youngest in the world.
