Inter AirportsStarting in October, Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen (LTS) will provide Airframe Related Components services for the Airbus A320ceo and A321ceo fleets of Cebu Pacific, one of the leading low-cost carriers in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement, signed this Wednesday at MRO Asia-Pacific, specifically covers maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and spare unit support for engine nacelle components including inlet and fan cowling, thrust reverser, and nozzle.

For such aircraft components mostly made of composite materials, LTS provides state-of-the-art repair technology. The subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik, located at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, moreover provides services for other components in various systems.

Cebu Pacific and Lufthansa Technik are already cooperating closely across a range of areas. Since early this year, the MRO provider has been performing Engine Maintenance Services for the CFM56-5B engines that power the A320ceo and A321ceo fleets of the Manila-based airline. The two companies also collaborate on Cyclean Engine Wash and Aircraft Transition Services. Furthermore, Cebu Pacific is currently in partnership with Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila for Base Maintenance Services on aircraft of the Airbus A320 Family.

“The contract signed today at MRO Asia-Pacific in Singapore is a strong testament to Cebu Pacific’s long-standing collaboration with Lufthansa Technik, and it reflects our complete confidence in their expertise. Cebu Pacific is committed to providing our passengers with safe, accessible, and affordable air travel, and our continuous partnership with Lufthansa Technik allows us to fulfill this objective,” said Shevantha Weerasekera, Cebu Pacific’s Vice President of Engineering and Fleet Management.

Dennis Kohr, Senior Vice President Corporate Sales Asia-Pacific at Lufthansa Technik, stated: “A big thanks goes out to Cebu Pacific for choosing us – once again – as their trusted partner. Our valued customer will benefit from our global MRO operations with a strong local footprint in Asia-Pacific. We are committed to continue delivering exceptional support and look forward to expanding our already strong partnership with Cebu Pacific through this new agreement.”

Lufthansa Technik partners with GMR Aero Technic
GMR Aero Technic will perform engine core wash services for commercial aircraft as a service partner on behalf of Lufthansa Technik at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, starting in Q4, 2024. The first customer to benefit from the service in India is already confirmed.

Preparation for the premiere of Cyclean Engine Wash in Bangalore is in full swing. Launching the services for commercial aircraft engines in India in Q4, 2024, customers will be able to have all common engine types for both narrow- and widebody aircraft washed by GMR Aero Technic, utilising the efficient system developed by Lufthansa Technik. The first customer at the airport of the third-largest city in the country will be SmartLynx Airlines. The Latvian charter and cargo operator – already using Cyclean in Europe – also leases aircraft to IndiGo Airlines.

Due to the high demand in the fast-growing Indian market, GMR Aero Technic and Lufthansa Technik intend to expand the supply of Cyclean services to additional Indian airports soon. Cyclean Engine Wash is already available at more than 60 locations worldwide.

Ashok Gopinath, President at GMR Aero Technik, stated: “We are extremely delighted to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik on providing engine wash services in Bangalore, and most importantly, the journey has only just begun, as the core focus is to provide this service in as many airports as possible. We are looking forward to this wonderful relationship.”

“We are pleased to have partnered with GMR Aero Technic, allowing us to expand our global network and soon offer our revolutionary engine washing technology, Cyclean, in India,” said Feliks Wandt, Head of Engine Life Cycles Services at Lufthansa Technik. “This is also great news for airlines operating at the international airport in Bangalore, as they will be able to wash their engines quickly and most efficiently using our system.”

With patented technology, Cyclean Engine Wash services offer efficient and sustainable washes, reducing water consumption by 50 % compared to conventional methods, completing washes in under 45 minutes, and eliminating the need for post-engine wash run-ups.
