Boeing announced a new contract with Australian company AW Bell for castings to support the 737 and 777 programs. The contract is a key component of Boeing’s participation in the Australian Government’s Global Supply Chain Program, which aims to enhance collaboration with local suppliers and strengthen the Australian defence industry.
“Our partnership with the Australian Government to create significant export opportunities for Australian companies helps support high-tech jobs across the country and creates pathways for these companies, many of which are small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to be integral parts of our global business,” said Amy List, managing director of Boeing Defence Australia. “This latest contract supplying castings for commercial products, also includes parts for commercial derivatives such as the P-8 Poseidon, with Australian recently receiving its thirteenth maritime patrol aircraft last month.”
Boeing’s participation in the Global Supply Chain program provides the Australian industry with increased opportunities to export products, services, and technology into Boeing’s global supply chain. Since joining the program in 2007, Boeing is on track to exceed AU$1 billion in awarded export contracts to Australian suppliers. Additionally, Boeing’s collaboration with the Australian industry supports its commercial aircraft and defence products, space and satellite systems, research and development, and the company’s Australia-based businesses. To date, Boeing has provided more than 1,700 bid opportunities, resulting in over AU$967 million in export contracts awarded to 105 suppliers across the country.
“We are extremely proud to be supporting BCA with a range of titanium and aluminium components for their 737, 767 and 777 aircraft,” said Sam Bell, CEO of AW Bell. “This contract stands as a testament to the strength, innovation and global competitiveness of Australian manufacturing and I’d personally like to thank the Boeing GSC team, whose support and confidence in our capabilities helped make this possible. For AW Bell and BCA, this is the beginning of a trusted, long-term partnership.”
