Australian low-cost carrier (LCC) Jetstar Airways, part of the Qantas Group, has taken delivery of its first A321neo. Featuring the airline’s refreshed livery, the aircraft is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines and configured in a single-class layout with 232 seats. The cabin features extra-large Airspace overhead bins offering a 40 percent increase in volume, USB ports and tablet holders at every seat.
Jetstar’s new A321neo is fitted with an additional fuel tank, enabling the aircraft to fly between all destinations on its domestic network, as well as to Southeast Asia, including the popular leisure destination of Bali. The aircraft is the first of 38 A320neo Family aircraft for Jetstar, comprising 18 A321neo and 20 A321XLR. These are part of a larger backlog of single-aisle aircraft ordered by the Qantas Group, which now stands at 149 aircraft. As at the end of June 2022, the A320neo Family has received more than 8,000 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide.
Vistara inducts new Dreamliner
India’s Vistara announced more than a 100 percent increase in frequencies to/from Frankfurt and Paris as it gears up to receive its third Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft which has been leased recently. Starting 30 October, Vistara will operate six weekly flights between Delhi and Frankfurt, up from the current three weekly frequency; while connectivity between Delhi and Paris goes up from two to five weekly.
Deepak Rajawat, Chief Commercial Officer, Vistara, said, “Europe has been a key focus market for us since the very beginning, and we are glad that our customers appreciate our offerings on these long-haul routes. We have been wanting to ramp up frequencies on these sectors and we are delighted to be able to finally do that.”
In May 2022, the airline scaled up frequencies on several international routes, including Delhi-London and Mumbai-Singapore to daily flights, besides bolstering its other international and domestic routes. Earlier, Vistara inaugurated services between Mumbai and Jeddah, as well as on the Mumbai-Bangkok route.
Vistara’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner comes with a three-class cabin configuration, giving customers the choice of Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. The new aircraft will also feature fully-flat Business Class seats, each with direct aisle access, and a separate Premium Economy cabin.
