FlightSafeyAsia Pacific Aerospace (APA) has confirmed continuation of NDT services previously offered by the Sikorsky Australia non-destructive testing (NDT) unit. As of 18 December 2021, all five members of the former Sikorsky Australia team transitioned to APA’s Macarthur facility. The facility has been upgraded to accommodate the advanced NDT methods now added to APA’s capability: Ultrasonic NDT (UT), Radiography NDT (RT), Eddy Current NDT (ET) and Infrared Thermography (IRT). These new capabilities and state-of-the-art facilities now make APA the most comprehensive NDT service provider in Australia.

“We look forward to what this team brings to APA, because what they do aligns with our quality standards of safety, service and skill,” says Tony Cotroneo, general manager of APA. “The transition has gone very well, with thanks to Sikorsky Australia, the team members and the APA transition team. We aimed to ensure there was no disruption to customer operations supplied by this valuable and important team, and this has been achieved. As we look forward, we are driven to expand the team’s capability and promote their services within the aerospace sector in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Ron Quirk, NDT manager and Responsible Level III, echoes Cotroneo’s vision for growing the NDT service. “We have had a long relationship with APA and see this move as a great fit for what we offer. I am looking forward to working with APA management to grow our market within the region.”

All Sikorsky Australia team members have transitioned across to APA, ensuring their skill and capabilities are retained in the Australian market. They will continue to service clients in all sectors of general aviation. Taking on this team reflects APA’s commitment to innovation and expansion of its capabilities to offer world-leading aerospace services in Queensland, Australia. Established for more than 30 years, APA is one of the most advanced gas turbine engine MRO companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Its purpose-built maintenance facilities support a range of capabilities, including:

  • Scheduled and unscheduled MRO for engines, modules and accessories
  • Component Recovery
  • Foreign object damage (FOD) repair
  • Failure analysis
  • Comprehensive test capabilities

APA now also boasts a non-destructive testing (NDT) unit servicing the entire general aviation sector. APA is based in Brisbane, Australia.
