Two Asia-Pacific companies – Fuji Heavy Industries of Tochigi, Japan and Ferra Engineering of Brisbane Australia – are among 16 firms or academic institutions honoured in Boeing’s ‘Supplier of the year’ awards.
FHI received the award in the “Pathfinder” category for outstanding performance improvements, partly in recognition of its on-time deliveries and production ramp up without disruptions while coping with the earthquake and tsunami in Northeastern Japan in March last year, which resulted in material supply turmoil, transport infrastructure damage and electrical supply restrictions.
Ferra Engineering won the international award. The Brisbane-based company supplies parts for the 747-8, 747-400 and 767, among others.
